Seduce your child with this lentil burger-a delicious mixture of flavours and a good alternative to hamburgers. Pop them into a bun, or serve with homemade baked beans. Enough for 4 burgers.


  • 75 g/3 oz/¾ cup lentils, cooked until soft
  • 1 egg
  • pinch each of garlic salt, parsley, sage and thyme
  • 1 tablespoon crushed walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon brown breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • slices of hard cheese


    Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas mark 4. Mix everything together, except the onion and cheese. Mould into cake shapes and roll in the onion. Place on a baking tray, put a slice of cheese over each burger and bake for 12-15 minutes.
