This deceptively simple sandwich demands exceptional ingredients. Choose the best-quality ham, cheese, and bread you can find. We recommend Fra’ Mani rosemary ham, Cowgirl Creamery’s Wagon Wheel cheese (an aged cow’s milk cheese similar to Fontina), and an Acme torpedo roll.
Lay the roll halves, cut side up, on a cutting board. Spread with the mayonnaise, dividing it evenly. Top the bottom halves first with the ham and then with the cheese, dividing them evenly. Cap with the roll tops and press gently. Cut each sandwich in half and serve.
