“Tartine” is a fancy, Frenchified word for a type of open-faced sandwich. The word tartine (pronounced tar-TEEN) is the diminutive of the French word tarte (pie). Once you get the hang of it, you can concoct your own recipes using leftovers and bits and pieces of cheese and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste.
