Pesto can be bought in supermarkets, but here is a simple version to make yourself.


  • 50 g (2 oz) pine nuts
  • 150 ml (5


Simply colour the nuts lightly in the olive oil, then allow to cool. Add the crushed garlic, basil and a pinch of salt and pepper and blend to a purée. This is now ready and can be kept for 2-3 days in the fridge.
