This is the Paramount version of an American classic that is based around a crumbly cake or biscuit, fruit and whipped cream. My version uses a nutty meringue cake that has a soft, light texture - it carries the sweetness of ripe, tropical strawberries and the richness of vanilla cream fabulously well.
