One of the most memorable picnics I have experienced took place in a California almond orchard in the middle of spring. My cousin’s and my blanket was spread out under a forest of fragrant trees bursting with white flowers. Like any successful picnic, it made us feel suspended in time. Almond trees offer so much pleasure I could be content with them even if they did not have nuts. But luckily they do.
