Basil’s special charm works its magic in this creamy sauce. It is an excellent way to use a small amount of the precious leaves.
Heat half the butter in a saucepan, add the ham and garlic and simmer gently, covered, for about 5 minutes. Add the cream and half the basil and simmer for several minutes to slightly thicken the cream. Season with salt and cayenne pepper.
Heat a serving dish with the remaining butter. Cook the pasta ‘al dente’, drain and turn into the heated dish. Toss with the hot butter. Pour over th
