When you enter a bookshop in Italy, there are shelves containing books on all the usual subjects: history, politics, literature, cuisine, travel, and so forth. What is notable, though, is that many major bookshops now devote an entire wall to the subject of mushrooms. The study, hunt, cultivation, dangers, and virtues of mushrooms have become a major interest for Italian hobbyists and food lovers alike.
