The best Tortelli di Patate I have tried all seem to come from the hilly regions not far from Reggio nell’Emilia. This area produces the finest grana cheese, known as parmigiano-reggiano or simply parmigiano. Wonderful fresh ricotta is also made there. Reggio itself was the birthplace of Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533), whose Orlando Furioso is the finest romantic epic produced in the Renaissance.
