Financiers were created during the 19th century in the financial district of Paris. A pâtissier called Lasne ran a small shop situated near the Paris stock exchange. Because the working environment of the stockbrokers or financiers was so pressurized, many of them would buy pâtisserie to eat on the floors of the stock exchange when there was no time for lunch.
