Adapted from a recipe by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, this is a truly delicious cocktail, guaranteed to impress. Balsamic vinegar turns the tomato juice a deep garnet red – a dramatic contrast to the potent white grains of paradise.

Ingredients

  • celery salt ¼ tsp or to taste
  • grains of paradise ½ tsp, coarsely ground, plus more to garnish</

Method

Mix together the celery salt, grains of paradise, tomato juice, lime juice, balsamic vinegar and vodka, preferably in a cocktail shaker. Give the mixture a good shake.

Pour over a glass (or two) of ice cubes and grind more grains over the top. Garnish with a basil or mint leaf.
