Hemp seed is big in Iran, surprisingly more so than its dodgy cousin hashish. Iranians have recognized its extraordinarily healthy properties for centuries. It is eaten by the handful as a snack, raw or roasted and salted, and it is often married with sesame and blended into breads and wafers. We have been importing the seeds for a number of years.
