There are quails in Iran. I mean, there must be, because they have a word for it, and people know what they are. They’re just not very widespread. My research (posh word for asking around) indicates that when they are eaten, they are usually simply grilled with salt. But the idea of having birds and meat in general filled with a glorious fruit and nut mixture is completely authentic. And this gorgeous, sweet (chirin) striped rice is an Iranian classic, often eaten on special occasion
