Persian baklava is quite different from that of other nations. Every Arab and Balkan country has its own version – the combination of buttery pastry, honey and nuts is a kind of marriage made in Heaven (albeit a three-way one). I had a serious (Lebanese) baklava habit for the first couple of years that the shop was open but fortunately, in the case of sweetmeats you can have too much of a good thing.
