For obvious reasons, this glaze—essentially the finishing touch in the two-step process that begins with the Fruit Preserve Glaze—is as neutral in flavor as possible. But adding a bit of rum or brandy can be a nice touch.

Ingredients

Confectioners’ sugar ½ cup
Water

Method

Put the sugar in a small mixing bowl, then add the water, 1 tablespoon at a time, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. The solution should be quite thin, but not watery. Stir in the liquor, if using. Lightly brush the sugar glaze onto the tart after applying Fruit Preserve Glaze. The glaze will ke
