This is a very precious dish to me as it is one of my mother-in-law’s signature dishes – the most delicious, sweet meaty dumplings nestling in a rich, velvety, wrap-you-in-a-blanket tomato sauce. A Hungarian tomato sauce is quite unlike its Italian cousins. The liquid comes from the stock the meat was cooked in, blended with tomato purée/paste, or sometimes from fresh, puréed tomatoes.
