In Tristana Luis Buñuel shot the most sumptuous gastronomic sequence in all cinema. The young Tristana and the bell ringer eat migas which the latter has prepared. The frying pan is on the simple table. They eat with spoons. Food has never looked so delicious, so elemental on screen. Catherine Deneuve noted later that it was difficult to play the scene while eating.
