Until recently edamame beans, which are similar to broad beans but harder and nuttier, were only available here in Japanese restaurants. Now, with their health benefits celebrated everywhere (they are full of protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and more), these young soya beans are widely available, whether frozen and podded, cooked or raw. They are even grown in the UK.
