Walnut Torte

There are many varieties of Polish tortes, but for Peter, this is the undisputed king of Polish cakes - number one on his list of all-time favorite Polish desserts. Tortes are very different from American-style cakes since they are made mainly with egg whites, sugar, and ground nuts rather than flour. The icing for this torte is based on eggs and butter, rather than butter and cream. A splash of vodka provides the liquid rather than cream. A dozen eggs go into this torte! W
