Classic Version

  • 8 slices casereccio bread, about 1 inch (2.5 cm)

Method

To make the classic version, hold the bread slices very briefly under running water to moisten them. Place them in a single layer on a large platter. Distribute the oil, vinegar, and a pinch of salt evenly over the bread slices. Mince the basil leaves and sprinkle over the top. Let rest for about 2 hours before serving.
