Bread sticks are a popular addition to a bread basket and also make a great snack. They are known as grissini in Italy, where the long, thin crackers seem to be included on the table at almost every meal. Instead of sesame seeds, the dough can be coated with chopped fresh rosemary, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, cracked black pepper, or a combination. For a more nutritious bread stick, use the dough from Swedish Whole-Grain Crisp Rolls, formed and baked as directed here.
