These coffee cakes feature the delicious combination of rich cardamom dough and moist custard filling, but perhaps just as important, their shape is unusual, so they are not going to be found in every other pastry shop in town. The opposite is true in Denmark and Sweden, where this folded style is quite popular and is also made using Danish dough and an almond-based filling.
