Almond Macaroons

These small cookies, crunchy on the outside and soft inside, can be positively addictive. They originated in Venice during the Renaissance and are still popular all over Europe. Numerous varieties are made(flavored with chocolate or liqueur, or sandwiched together with ganache, buttercream, or jam.
