This is a quick, easily made cake that can be served plain or with fresh berries. If you can get them, try Japanese wineberries, which are small and golden in color, ripening to a light red. These raspberry lookalikes are juicy and refreshing, with a flavor similar to grapes, and the plant that they grow on is particularly unusual and decorative.
For an even prettier plate presentation, make individual servings by piping the batter into cake rings instead. You will need 16 cake ring
