Macadamia Nut Toffee

This recipe can be made with any type of nut you have on hand, or you can use a combination; the macadamia version is my personal favorite. Chopping the nuts coarsely, as directed, makes the finished toffee easy to break into small pieces. If you leave the nuts whole, however, the candy has a more elegant appearance and is especially attractive for presenting in a whole slab. If you plan to present the candy this way, you may want to pour the mixture onto a full sheet pan rather than a half
