The combination of marzipan, chocolate, and rum is found in many desserts and pastries, and for good reason. These ingredients complement and play off one another well. A candy that features the same flavors and is also prepared in a similar way is called branchli (meaning “small branches” in the Swiss-German language). These are made by piping rum-flavored ganache into thin ropes, rolling each rope in a sheet of marzipan to cover, and then brushing melted chocolate over the marzipan
