Procedure
- Combine the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the vanilla.
- Add the prepared fruit to the syrup or, if using tender fruit, place the fruit in a shallow pan and pour the syrup over it.
