Fool (originally spelled foole) is a decidedly English dessert. It is made from any fruit (though usually tart and always cooked or macerated) folded in equal parts with whipped cream or whipped custard. Most references for fool couch it as a summertime dessert; I tend to make it more in the winter, utilizing frozen fruit and serving with a plate of crunchy cookies. I particularly like using frozen fruit because the fruit is naturally soft and juicy after it thaws, so no cooking is required
