Syllabub is an easy, old-fashioned dessert that can be made in advance for a party. I make this with sweet vermouth, liking the bitterness, but sherry or sweet white wine are more traditional. Feel free to use any sort of cookie or crumble here, but since cherry pits are used to make almond extract, cherries and almonds are always a natural flavor combination.
