  • About

Prepared with a mixture of quinoa flakes and rolled oats, this porridge is quick and easy to prepare. Adding frozen mixed berries helps deliver a crucial boost of vitamin C and antioxidants during winter months when fresh berries, if available, are more expensive. Most people with coeliac disease can eat oats, so this porridge is useful for them too.

  • 600 ml/1 pint/ cups milk
  • 115 g/4 oz/1 cup quinoa flakes
  • 50 g/2 oz/½ cup rolled oats
  • 115 g/4 oz/1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • soft light brown sugar or golden (light corn) syrup, to serve

  1. Put the milk and quinoa flakes in a pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes until the flakes are softened.
  2. Add the rolled oats and mixed berries to the pan and simmer for a further 3-5 minutes, until the berries are warmed and the porridge thickened.
  3. Serve immediately with soft light brown sugar or golden syrup.
