The Greeks use a lot of home-produced nuts in their desserts, like daktila, or as I call them Almond Lady Fingers. Like many other Greek sweet pastries, daktila are deliciously fragrant with rose water and cinnamon, and of course, they are very sweet!

Ingredients

  • 750 g plain flour
  • 100 ml sunflower oil or light olive oil
  • 1

Method

  • Make the syrup: Place the ingredients in a small saucepan with 200 ml cold water. Bring to a steady boil for 5 minutes. Take off the heat to cool.
  • Meanwhile make the dough by mixing the flour, oil and salt together, crumbling with your fingers to form breadcrumbs. Gr
