There is nothing more satisfying than making your own tasty tomato sauce and it really is so simple. It’s great as a base for a homemade pizza or here, simply stirred into spaghettini or spaghetti.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 banana shallots, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

Method

Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat, add the shallots and fry for a few minutes until softened, then add the garlic and fry for 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and stir in the tomatoes, vinegar and butter.
