It seems that for as long as there has been pizza in Naples there has been sardenaira in San Remo. Of course, sardenaira does not have cheese, and it has garlic and olives that speak in a pronounced Ligurian accent. This is a wonderful bread that makes a perfect appetizer with wine, or can accompany meals based on less flavorful preparations (poached fish, or a large green salad, are two examples).
