These corzetti, like their better-known disk-shaped cousins, are also based on the idea of imitating a coin from the Republic of Genoa. The Val Polcevara is the agricultural entroterra of the city of Genoa, and it has never been as affluent as some of the coastal areas. So while the coins of the city were the bigger pieces, those found in the valley were smaller and more humble. They are shaped like the number 8, and are easy to make once you
