Translated as “poor knights”, these sugared toasts are perfect for almost every occasion. They make a good tea-time snack for children, or to accompany a cup of hot chocolate. As a party dessert they are the equivalent of France’s toasted brioche - an accompaniment to ice cream, or to any baked fruit. They are also very popular by themselves.
