To this day I vividly remember when the first branch of Pizza Hut opened its doors to the public in Jeddah – it was in 1987, if memory serves me correctly. It immediately became fashionable and a status symbol for the middle- and upper-middle-class families to dine out at Pizza Hut at the weekend. Back then, it was a thing we kids boasted about. It was our very first taste of American fast food, with all of the glitz and glam.
