Kedgeree, which originated in India, is basically a spicy rice dish with fish. Traditionally you would eat it for breakfast. My ma used to make a similar dish that we’d have for supper. We called it tamatieryskos (tomato rice food) and it was a mixture of rice, spices, tomato and tinned pilchards. I was crazy about it. My version, though different because I’ve used wine and included prawns and hake or snoek instead of canned pilchards, is still a respectful nod to the dish my mom made for u
