Yeast-Raised Butter Cake

This is a particularly rich bread dough with a high proportion of egg and butter to flour; you’ll have to work at it to get it to accept all the butter, but it’ll be well worth the effort. Variations on the same theme include Italy’s Christmas panettone as well as many of the Mediterranean’s Easter breads.
