Rice and noodles are a popular side dish in most of the Arab countries. If serving this at a meat meal, use oil and water or meat or poultry broth. If served at a dairy meal, you may use butter and water or vegetable broth.
Rinse and drain the rice in a fine-mesh sieve.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter or heat the oil over medium heat and sauté the noodles, stirring often, until golden brown. Stir in the rice until all the grains are coated.
