This recipe is from the mother of my butcher, Anthony Puharich of Vic’s Premium Quality Meats and Victor Churchill. Stephanie developed her passion for cooking as a young girl after the family decided she was more of a hindrance doing her share of farm chores than she might be staying indoors. Picking up a recipe book that happened to be lying around, she began by baking a cherry cake that took her fancy. The result was so successful that it established her role as the family’s cook.
