Le Grand Bornand made news in the United States during the summer of 1987 when flash flooding brought disastrous results. A beautiful village overlooking the Aravis, it is a great little place for not-too-expensive skiing. No baking for this farcement, only a nice slow—forever—cooking in a cocotte until all the ingredients are reduced to a compote. Enjoy it with a salad.
