  • About

As mentioned in the title, this can be made in the United States with butternut or buttercup squash.

Ingredients

  • One 4- to 5-pound piece of dark orange pumpkin
  • 1 tablespoon evergreen or other

Method

Put the piece of pumpkin or the whole squash in a large baking dish. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until the outside caramelizes and the juices have flooded the dish.

Remove the pumpkin meat with a large spoon and mash it well with a fork or masher; add the honey, salt, and pepper.

Butter a 1½-quart dish with the 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the pumpkin and smooth the top well.
