  • About

Because Scandinavians love to offer guests a warm welcome of coffee and coffee breads, bread recipes often produce several loaves. Bread freezes well when it is tightly wrapped, but your friends or relatives would probably be delighted to receive a fresh loaf of homemade bread.

Ingredients

  • cups 2% milk
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup

Method

Combine milk, sugar, butter and salt in a medium saucepan and heat until bubbles form on the sides of the pan, about 2 to 3 minutes. Cool to 115° F. The butter doesn’t have to melt. Pour into the bowl of a heavy-duty mixer. Sprinkle the yeast over the warm water and let stand 5 minutes until the yeast is dissolved.

Add the yeast and stir in 3 cups flour. Beat on medium speed for 3 minut
