7. Bride’s Bonn

Bride’s Bonn is a traditional Shetland cake or bread – formerly it was a sweet oat bannock, then later it became a thick round of shortbread. This was broken over the bride’s head by the womenfolk as she entered the house for the wedding party after the church service.
