Dates seared in hot oil and finished with a pinch of sea salt are one of the best Christmas treats you could give yourself. This is a simple, happy dish – perfect for parties.
Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and sauté the dates, allowing 1 or 2 minutes on each side. Transfer the dates to a plate and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt.
Pour the warm oil from the dates into a bowl and whisk in the lemon juice and the maple syrup or honey.
