The classic Japanese flavoring gomasio is a very useful condiment. It’s a blend of lightly toasted sesame seeds and sea salt, ground together in a Japanese mortar called a suribashi, or just mixed in a bowl. This all-around great condiment can be made with black or white sesame seeds (the white seeds have a slightly milder flavor).
