These unique kanda leaf-wrapped sweets are enhanced by the flavour of the leaf. They were one of the most delicious treats we sampled when we were invited into the home of the village baker. I remember his sister making them for us, and that they were still warm when they were served.

The sweet coconut-based stuffing, known as pani pol, is also popular in other dishes, especially string hoppers.
