Nestled within the British Library in London is The Sultan’s Book of Delights – a fifteenth-century book of recipes from the Sultan of Mandu (Madhya Pradesh), known as Ghiyath Shahi, and later added to by his son and successor Nasir Shah. It is also known more formally as the Ni’matnāma-i-Nāșir al-Dīn Shāhī. Beautiful miniature illustrations of dishes being prepared sit alongside handwritten notes, observations and recipes.
