This is based on a recipe given to me by Malcolm Starmer, when working at the House. It’s great to serve with cheese, cream cheese and smoked salmon, Pickled or cured fish and Horseradish, and it’s best when it’s fresh. It’s also great toasted with scrambled eggs

Method

To make the soda bread

Set your oven to 175°C. Place all dry ingredients in a bowl. Dissolve black treacle into the buttermilk then stir into the dry ingredients creating a big sticky mess.
