  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled and halved or quartered, depending on size
  • ½ cup dry red wine

Method

  1. Combine the strawberries, red wine, and sugar in a bowl and stir. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise in half and scrape out the seeds. Add them, along with the pod and the lemon juice, to the strawberries and stir; let sit for about 45 minutes. Remove the vanilla pod.
